Summary of Blizzard in Birmingham
In the reading "Blizzard in Birmingham", the author describes that an unusual storm happened in
Birmingham. During the winter time, it hardly snowed, so the people lack experiences to deal with
snow. However, one night in March 1993, an unexpected blizzard started. The Turners, who
lived in Birmingham, had the different reactions between the kids and parents. For the children, they
were excited by the snow. Whereas, the adults even could not live in a normal way. This kind of
situation lasts for three days. After that , all the people went back to their old lives. It was an
incredible experience for everyone.

An email for Lucy
Hello Lucy,
How are you?
I would like to tell you a good news that I am going to volunteer at Westwood Public Library as a
baker.
Last time, you said that my baking skill is very good and you really enjoy the food I made, which encouraged me to do a volunteer job in cooking. On the weekend of September 3rd, people who visit the library will taste cookies and muffins that I baked. The fundraiser is for buying new book. Making the library become better and better. I think it is meaningful.
Welcome you and your friend come and support it, see you then!
Best wishes
Iris
